1. I’m a fellow business owner that will be effected by CPSIA in that I will probably go out of business due to the high cost of lead testing on the components of my products, which are only cottons and polyesters.
I provide safe, Made in the USA, comfy bedding products for children; none of which contain any amounts of lead (obviously). It is unfortunate that the dream I have worked towards for so many years will be taken away due to a poorly written and inconsiderate law.
Good luck to all other business owners affected by this careless act.

Never heard of CPSIA sounds interesting, need to read up on more about it….. Keep up the good work… Very cool homepage.
I had not heard about CPSIA before, but now that I have I will be researching it more. I don’t think it affects my business directly but I’m sure it will probably affect the business of some of my clients and thus affect me. I will be researching this more. Thanks for making me aware of it via. Twitter and your blog.
I am a parent, I think CPSIA is great in principle, but they made it a much too broad sweeping law. I think it is a shame that it is going to affect so many wonderful small business out there!
I am a parent, I think CPSIA is way out of line! I just think that people have better things to be doing right now in the world we live in. It’s so sad all these people who will have to go out of business Feb. 10 if it passes!
Have a lovely evening!
I am a parent, I think CPSIA is too broad/vague and it is going to negatively impact U.S. businesses. We need to stop importing from China and create more jobs in America and manufacture more items right here at home.
I am a parent, I think CPSIA is going to seriously affect many people - unfortunately.
I am a parent, I think CPSIA is……going overboard. I am totally for safe products for my children, however I think that the way the law was worded is too open to interpretation. It saddens me to see so many WAHM going out of business, while the typical big China Companies don’t seem to be fretting at all.
I am a parent, I think CPSIA is going to far. One of my favorite toys for my son this Christmas was a handcrafted wooden truck. I love buying hand made things. I think it is awful what they are doing.
I am a business owner and a parent and grandparent of infant-4yr old children. I purchase many of my items that are used for a short time from resale stores or other type organizations. The CPSIA will have a negative effect for me. This will make a difference because I would hate to waste the money buying everything new. I also like to have toys available for when my customers bring their children along so they are occupied.
I hate to see this happen when big names like Fisher Price continue to product items in China that are sometimes recalled due to lead and other problems. They can afford it, but not the small business owners that I deal with.
I had not heard about CPSIA before, but now that I have I will seek more information about it and see how I can help those who will be negatively affected. Thanks for the giveaway!
1. I’m a fellow business owner that will be effected by CPSIA in that… my existing product is technically unsaleable because it doesn’t have COCs (even though most was tested… though in a different manner than called for by the CPSIA). I have a toy store! We were very little affected by the recalls last year because our manufacturers (for the specialty toy industry) have been very concerned for safety all along.
The CPSIA requires manufacturers to start shipping product with COCs starting Feb. 10th. They also require that all product sold primarily to children 12 and under be tested for lead…. after Feb. 10th.
The BIG problem is that we have NO implementation time between when manufacturers have to start providing COCs and when we need to have them to sell our toys.
We also have no way of testing our existing product in order to prove that it is below the required lead levels. (THOUGH I am confident that it is…. I just can’t prove it.)
2. I am a parent, I think CPSIA is…….estroying the only people who’s products we actually trusted during the whole recall scare! And furthermore if this act plows forward “as is” we are esentially unemploying even more people in an already struggling economy.
I am a parent, I think CPSIA was trying to do something good for children but in the end will make life much, much worse for many kids and their parents. I can’t believe this hasn’t been amended yet!
As a parent, I think CPSIA is going way too far! Never heard of them before but going now to read more about them. Thanks for the great giveaway - what a wonderful product! ~
I am a parent, I think CPSIA is utterly ridiculous. this is just another way to run small business owners out of business!
I am a parent, I think CPSIA is something that should be taken with a pinch of salt. It should apply more on a case to case basis, rather than wholesale like it is now.
Thanks for this great giveaway!
I actually just saw something about this on a book blog (so I suppose that fits #3 but I didn’t want to lie and say never) I’m planning on reading up on it now, though
I am a parent, I think CPSIA is going to waste a whole lot of my money because I buy a good deal of second hand items for my daughters. The idea that many resale shops are eliminating children’s items all together to avoid future lawsuits makes me cringe. And all children’s books pulled from the library? Honestly, how far is this going to go?
Thanks for the giveaway!
I am a parent, I think CPSIA should be investigated as to how far they think they can push any of this nonsense down all of our throats. At whose cost? The economy is in bad enough shape, without making matters worst for the little guy. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway that can really protect kids.
I am a parent, I think CPSIA needs to rethink this act. I think being informed is being armed. I’m sure all of us have chewed on more then a few toys when we were young that would not pass this act, but are no worst for wear because of it.
I am a parent, I think CPSIA has good intentions in mind, but really need to rethink how they go about this. With the economy the way it is, this is going to affect small businesses negatively.
I had not heard about CPSIA before, but now that I have I will tell other parents about it and see if I can get some more active in it. I understand testing but there is such a thing as going to far and I think they have met it. Thank you for the giveaway.
I’m a fellow business owner that will be effected by CPSIA in that I will not be able to sell any new childrens items. I will also not be able to open up any new childrens lines of products that I might have. I resell the majority of my items, but I am still devastated over this law. As a parent, and especially one with little money, I cannot even begin to imagine the terrible consequences this law will be putting on us.
Not only to the small business that I treasure so much, but also in the price increases from the larger companies. I am glad the government is trying to stop this lead, etc but this law is just to broad & it is hurting the wrong group of people!
2. I am a Godparent, I think CPSIA is……trying to keep our kids safe but overlooking the obvious. Especially now with the economy like it is, this is going to affect so many small-business owners and I think it’s really sad. I have written to my congressman and I hope it helps!
